CONTEST: Win Tix To A Special Advance Screening Of The New Amy Winehouse Documentary

Amy Winehouse was a heartbreaking work of staggering genius. We all know the power and the grace of Back To Black and we all know about her harrowing decline and premature death. The new and rightfully acclaimed documentary Amy, which opens Friday at the Ritz, reveals the back story behind the music and the actual person behind the grotesque, strobe-flashed caricature the media depicted. The film makes the case that the very factors that fueled her bottomless ambition and stratospheric rise — the psychic wounds incurred in adolescence, the debilitating insecurity and self-loathing that triggered her bulimia and a bottomless appetite for drink and drugs — hastened her tragic demise. At the same time, the men in her life — her father, her husband, her manager — who might have help save her only enabled, if not facilitated, her meteoric fall from grace.  Yeah, Amy is a sad, sad movie but essential viewing for anybody who truly cared about the music and the artist behind it. Which is why we are happy to announced that we have 15 pairs of tickets to a special advance screening 7 pm tomorrow night (Tuesday, July 7th) at the Ritz 5.  To qualify to win, send us an email at FEED@PHAWKER.COM with the magic words BACK TO BLACK in the subject line, your full name and a mobile number for confirmation and the correct answer to the following question: As per the lyric of “Rehab,” who thought Amy Winehouse was “fine” and therefore she didn’t need to go to rehab? Good luck and godspeed. And goodnight, Miss Winehouse, wherever you are.
