Aaron,
I also grew up in Alleluia and remember you as a child..you may or may not remember me. My family lived in Faith Village and I have three younger brothers who may have been your classmates. I think I even babysat you once or twice. I've been devouring every word of your story...it's incredible. The only thing more incredible is the sheer number of similar stories coming from children who grew up in that cult, like myself. Your writing is amazing, and reminds me so much of a mix between Bret Easton Ellis and Augusten Burroughs. I'm so happy to see people openly speaking out about their experiences in Alleluia and I hope your writings inspire more of it. It's liberating to know that we were not alone in our torments there, even though we felt as though we were. It just proves that time is the master of vindication. Excellent, excellent work. Can't wait to read more!
