The Internet spreads anonymous chain e-mails to a public that is both vulnerable and gullible. Groups with a financial or ideological interest give the rumors a boost. Talk radio provides an echo chamber for the demonizers. FOX NEWS: The Obama administration has launched a new Web site to battle what it calls “wild rumors” about the
health care reform plans being pushed through Congress — including an invitation for the public to tattle on any other “myths” they come across. It comes a week after the White House asked the public to send in “fishy” information about health care reform. The Web site, activated Monday, uses the same set-up as the “Fight the Smears” page the Obama campaign maintained last year to battle rumors seen as potentially damaging to his candidacy. There apparently is no integrity or intelligent life on Fox cable news(?)! I retired after 34 years of nursing, the last 24 in a speciality area, where we had to make sure insurance coverage was available. Sometimes pt. would be denied if their Ins didn’t think they needed a specialist, even though, after testing, their primary physician recommended it! Some pt. had precedures that were denied by their ins.
One of my children works as an underwritter for an Ins co., her job is to check pt. files for reasons to deny coverage! So I know this happens! Along with perks from Ins. lobbyists, to Washington bureaucrats, trickling down to, pharmaceutical co., and probably some very dubious celebs. at the Fox cable-crematorium. Perks can b
