That's good info, Navid, but I feel like it's hard to say they aren't pledging some kind of allegiance to LA when "PIRU Bloods" is spray painted all over town, Piru being a street in Compton. Maybe it's a superficial tie based more on heritage than direct communication lines, but I think it's there. I don't honestly know how versed on any of this stuff the Chester Crip/Blood kids are, they might be completely ignorant to everything you've just explained. I would love to learn more about the internal structures of these groups and where their ties lead up the chain, so to speak, but right now there's not a lot of knowledge about or understanding of the groups, locally.

I mean, this is it, the bulk of any kind of coverage on this stuff for the last year has been on this website. The big papers seem kind of blind to it and, well, to be quite frank I'm not resourced well enough to pursue this as much as I would like to.

Hey, man. Love your reporting. One little quibble, though. <i>"It’s evidence that Chester’s small street corner crews are consolidating into a larger, more unified body pledging allegiance to Los Angeles."</i> East coast Bloods & Crips aren't really affiliated with the LA gangs that bear the same name. What they have in common is name, colors, stacking, that "brrrrat" thing that the Bloods say, etc. The surface thing. But the east coast bloods started in the NY penitentiory system around '92 or '93 by this guy from the Bronx who called himself "O.G. Mack". The L.A. Bloods weren't looking to expand to NY. This guy and a couple of his friends just adopted the Bloods name and trappings as a way to band together black inmates to take power in the prisons away from the Latin Kings. Then it expanded to the streets.
