Excellent interview! I was at that Hot Club show (advertised by booker Steve Apple as "David Bowie's Devo," with hints to local gossip columnists that Bowie would likely attend; of course he didn't).

I took pictures backstage and everything, but I don't remember any stripper. I guess it's one more early Hot Club show that I didn't stay late enough for (like the 2nd set of an early Dead Boys show where Stiv supposedly got a blow job onstage).

Even missing the private strip show, it was still one of the best early Hot Club shows, preceded by the 16mm projection of their first Chuck Statler film.

This was fall 1977, after "Jocko Homo/Mongoloid" was the big buzz record among readers of Trouser Press and New York Rocker, and the "Satisfaction" 45 had just been released -- so there were a few other places Devo got to play pre-WB, contrary to what Mark said in the interview.
