True, Dowd wasn't on deadline. Though I think that's because she's a columnist, and writes fewer words per week than many part-time bloggers write in a day, while Candy Crowley is (for all that I don't always agree with her take) an incredibly hardworking campaign reporter who has to file reports and do camera shots pretty much every day.

Someone like Krugman, well, he also teaches. That Kristof guy, he does research and takes trips to foreign countries to gather new material and similar. Dowd bloviates, and not always well, so a person is left wondering what the frak it is that she does all week besides soak up ambience along the path of least possible resistance.

Dude, Obama lives in fucking Kenwood, it's like radical central. Has no one picked up on the fact that Farrakhan's Persian-style ultra-mansion is in Kenwood? And that Muhammad Ali lives across the street from Farrakhan? And that it's practically the birthplace of the Nation of Islam? It was fun to see these tank-sized dudes in tuxes who did security for the Farrakhan estate come running down the lawn to make sure the perimeter was secure whenever someone dared to use the sidewalk on his block, I used to go for walks up there all the time when I was the U of C.
