FRINGE DWELLER: Recommended

Inis Nua Theatre Company
Theater, 70 minutes
An Irish fable about tradition in a mad place, Trad is the hilarious tale of hundred-year old Thomas and his improbably ancient Da. When Thomas reveals that he once fathered a son in a long ago fling, the pair sets off across the Irish countryside to find the unknown child, with nothing more than a hobble and a limp to help them. Written by Mark Doherty and directed by Tom Reing, Trad continues Inis Nua’s tradition of bringing gritty contemporary work from Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales to the Fringe and Live Arts Festivals. From the company that brought you Crazy Gary’s Mobile Disco (2006), Tadhg Stray Wandered In (2005), and A Play on Two Chairs (2004). Click Here for Showtimes

Tere O’Connor Dance
Dance, 60 minutes
Taking its title from an ancient building technique, RAMMED EARTH is a site-specific work that explores architecture as a fundamental force in both the choreographic form and the human experience. In this world premiere performance, Bessie Award-winning choreographer/director Tere O’Connor constructs an elaborate relationship between four dancers and their constantly changing environment. Raw materials strewn throughout the performance area inspire a spontaneous creation of unique physical and musical expression. Conceived in collaboration with longtime artistic partners Brian MacDevitt (lighting/set) and James Baker (composer), RAMMED EARTH expresses O’Connor’s interest in the absurd proliferation of material goods on earth; the secret life of objects and our entanglement with them; and the deep impact that architecture has on both art and existence. Seating will be provided. Audience members should be prepared to carry their chairs from place to place as the dancers move through the space. Click Here for Showtimes

A Room of One’s Own integrates video and a live performance in which Fusco briefs audiences on how a career in military intelligence offers great opportunities to emancipated women of the twenty-first century, raising fundamental questions about feminism and the political appropriation of the language of female liberation.
