FRINGE REVIEW: Flamingo Winnebago

Hey Jonathan,
Yeah, wasn’t able to make the Flamingo Winnebago [pictured, below] or after-party at the Starlight…

Before you throw your hands up in exasperation let me explain. By the time the show (Painted Bride) came around was beer buzzed and sort of “ripe”. ie, hadn’t showered in about a week. Don’t think it would have been good to show up in that kind of condition. (Not necessarily “drunk”, far from it, but *way* too stale/body odor smelling. We can work out the cash advance return payment at a later date.)

Did see the “8-ball” guy on Sat. for about 4 or so hours. plan to do that next Sat/Sun. Have pics from the first one up at http://autoacne.blogspot.com. Plan to take more pics and some video. Will be a good comparison article between at least three of the performances for Phawker.com. Will send attachments etc. at a later date after the three performances.

Here is what I’m *still* hoping to see:
Little Girl Blue – Sept. 5 (Ethical Society) 7:30 p.m.flamingowinnebago.jpg
Flamingo/Winnebago – Sept 6-8 6p.m.
Man With No Will – (8-ball guy) City Hall
Sonic Dances – Sept. 8 (City Hall) 5:30 p.m.
Java Drama – Sept. 7-9 (various times)
Trad – Sept. 12-15 7 p.m.
Bad Hair – Sept. 13 9 p.m.
Claire – Sept. 12-15 9 p.m.
13 Lemonade Ave. Sept. 15 3 p.m.
Sorry to have let you down. Will do my best from here on out.

Allan,
Not cool, man. You are breaking the cardinal rule: When you commit to something you deliver it when you said you would. You owe me something good.

Jonathan,
agreed. will deliver.
Allan

PS What do you think of this: Just publish our emails. Think it is sorta funny. (yeah, I *know* you’re not laughing out too loudly about it…) But if you agree, will you please downsize the “Allan Smithee” icon image.

Allan,
Your idea is brilliant. However, it’s still not cool that you didn’t bother to go the show because you were too drunk and smelled bad. Critics have to earn their stripes before they can get away with those kind of shenanigans. So as punishment I am running your icon extra large, even though you don’t like it because you think it makes you look gay.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: According to Wikipedia, “Alan Smithee” is a pseudonym used between 1968 and 1999 by Hollywood film directors who wanted to be dissociated from a film for which they no longer wanted credit. It was used when the director could prove to the satisfaction of a panel of members of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers that the film had been wrested from his or her creative control. The director was also required to keep the reason for the disavowal a secret. As such, we not only can’t tell you who Allan Smithee is (you WOULD be shocked) but we can’t even tell you why we can’t tell you. When we asked him for an ABOUT THE AUTHOR bio he sent this: “Allan Smithee is an artist who is chronically unemployed. He likes to make lists in his spare time. (end)”
